“Truth, laughter, drama, freedom, love, knowledge, nature, chocolate...
the answer to the universe is in there somewhere.” - JK

Jolene Kay, the oldest of four children, grew up accompanied in life by Howard the duck, chickens, a pig, goats, emus, Moe, Larry, and Curly (the three ill-fated guineas), an emotional Great Dane named Worf and a rock eating Labrador named Ace. She credits her generous parents for her very pleasant childhood, which reads like a storybook filled with the afore mentioned eclectic animal companions and a loving family.

After a rich theatrical and film career in high school and college, Jolene traded the Midwestern pastures and open roads for the "L.A. River" and the 405 parking lot to pursue film on the grander scale. “I love the connection between two people that occurs when you’re telling a story. When you get to a part that resonates with the other person, and there’s this wordless acknowledgment of each other’s journey, suddenly you both feel less alone than you did the moment before. You know... the part in the movie when the music starts to swell!”

Jolene’s pursuit has already landed her roles in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming “Star Trek” and Adam Sandler’s “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” as well as a multitude of independent films. Her favorite experiences have included working with Writer / Director / Producer Daniel F. Scherl, with whom she co-wrote and co-starred in “How to Be a Director: 10 Easy Steps to Fortune and Fame." “How to Be a Director” is the first in a series of comedic ten step program shorts that provide a sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek look at life.

Kay and Scherl will team up again on the forthcoming feature film “Four Months” which will take them around the globe to film internationally.

In addition to acting, Jolene continues to write and direct her own projects. She looks forward to upcoming roles and the challenge of the unknown with a sense of humor. “I didn’t get to die gloriously with a phaser blast to the face, exploding console or a transporter malfunction in Star Trek,” she says. “So I guess J.J. owes me one.”
